Secret Santa Generator Wheel
Use this Secret Santa generator to draw gift-exchange pairings in front of
an organizer or small group. The page starts with two matching wheels: one for
the person giving a gift and one for the person receiving it. Replace the
neutral participant labels with your real list, then create one pairing at a
time while keeping the recorded assignments out of view when the exchange is a
surprise.
This setup is intentionally visible and manual. It helps a group agree on the
draw and makes the current options easy to inspect, but it is not a hidden
matching service that can understand every relationship or exclusion rule.
Prepare the Secret Santa generator
Edit both wheels so they contain the same participants, with one name per
slice. Remove duplicate entries, check spelling, and keep every slice at weight
1 unless the group has explicitly agreed to a different probability. The
Givers wheel identifies whose turn it is. The Recipients wheel holds the people
who can still receive a gift.
Before the first spin, decide who may see the assignments. For an office or
family exchange, one organizer can record each pair privately. If everyone is
watching, use a separate note or reveal each result only to the relevant giver.
Do not publish private names in a shared link unless every participant agrees.
Draw one gift pairing at a time
First, spin the Givers wheel. Because elimination mode is on, the selected giver
is removed after the result, so each participant is handled once. Write down the
giver, then find that same name on the Recipients wheel and remove it before the
recipient spin. This prevents the person from drawing themselves in that round.
Now spin the Recipients wheel and record the result as a pair. The recipient is
removed by elimination mode, so that person cannot be assigned twice during the
same run. Continue with the next giver until the list is almost empty. After
each round, compare your notes with both wheels so a missed removal does not
silently change the draw.
The last two assignments deserve a deliberate check. If the only remaining
recipient is the remaining giver, undo the last recipient result and redraw, or
swap the final two valid recipients in your notes. This is an important limit:
GoSpinWheel selects visible weighted slices and removes winners, but it does not
automatically calculate a derangement or enforce every exclusion.
Make the exchange fair and easy to explain
Equal weights give each visible slice the same chance on a spin. Keep the names
visible before each draw, explain when elimination mode removes a result, and
write down each completed pair immediately. If couples, housemates, or close
friends must not be matched, remove those choices before the relevant spin and
check that enough valid recipients remain.

Small family exchanges can use one organizer and a private results note. In an
office, let the organizer verify exclusions before anyone spins and share only
each participant's own assignment. For a classroom or club, replace real names

keep the final list somewhere secure and delete it when the gifts have been
exchanged.
