Build a Starting XI for the 38-0 Game

The 38-0 game imagines an all-time Premier League XI capable of winning every league match. This GoSpinWheel version keeps the challenge practical: one wheel selects a current 2026/27 Premier League club and the other selects an open position in a 4-3-3. Choose an eligible player from that club's Premier League history, lock the pick, and repeat until all eleven slots are complete.

There is no player database, hidden rating, chemistry calculation, or match simulation on this page. The wheel creates constraints; the drafter makes the football decision. That distinction matters because a real claim that an XI would win 38 matches needs a model, while a transparent draft game only needs fair rules and verifiable eligibility.

How to Draft the All-Time Premier League XI

  1. Confirm the era. By default, use player appearances from the Premier League era. Agree whether loans and short appearances count.
  2. Spin both wheels. Read the club and position together as one instruction.
  3. Choose a valid player. The player must have represented the selected club in the chosen era and credibly played the drawn role.
  4. Record the selection. Lock the name before spinning again. A player cannot fill two slots or appear twice.
  5. Complete eleven rounds. Position elimination fills GK, the back four, three midfield roles, and the front three once each. Clubs may repeat.

If the same club returns, choose a different player. For Center Back 1 and Center Back 2, think about the partnership rather than treating the labels as different positions. The midfield labels describe roles, so a versatile central player may qualify for more than one slot if the group agrees.

Why This Page Uses One Fixed Formation

Adding a formation wheel would change which position slices are valid after every spin. A reusable MDX wheel cannot automatically replace the remaining positions when the shape changes. The 38-0 game therefore starts with a balanced 4-3-3, making every draw actionable and the finished XI easy to read.

The 20 club slices match the official 2026/27 league membership, including the promoted clubs. Promotion and relegation make this pool time-sensitive, so edit the team list for future seasons. Clubs receive equal weights and can repeat; lineup slots receive equal weights and disappear when filled. For other tactical prompts, see Football Formations. For a generic role picker, use Football Positions.

House Rules and Selection Strategy

Select a mode before the first draw:

  • Classic: Premier League-era players, one club reroll, no duplicate player.
  • Hard mode: every legal draw stands and no rerolls are allowed.
  • One-club limit: remove a club manually after it supplies a player.
  • Historic top flight: allow pre-1992 players for every club, not only convenient picks.

A lineup full of prolific attackers can still fail the thought experiment. Check buildup against pressure, defensive recovery, width, ball progression, set-piece defending, aerial strength, pressing, chance creation, and finishing. In midfield, balance a holder with progression and creativity. Across the back line, consider pace and coverage when the fullbacks advance.

Evaluate the Finished 38-0 Team

Give the XI one to five points for possession play, transition attack, defensive structure, set pieces, and depth of role coverage. Then name the opponent style most likely to cause a draw or defeat. This produces a useful comparison without pretending the score is an official forecast.

Reset the position wheel before a new draft and keep the same season pool and eligibility rules. A good 38-0 game run is not simply eleven famous names; it is a coherent team assembled from club and position constraints that were accepted before the result was known.
