Smash Ultimate Random Picker: choose a fighter without the lobby debate
Use this Smash Ultimate Random Picker when the character-select screen is taking longer than the match. It starts with 86 playable choices, including the DLC fighters, so one spin gives a clear fighter for a friendly, a challenge run, or the first game of a set. The default list follows the official Fighters directory and keeps the familiar roster order rather than mixing in fan-made tiers or arbitrary bans.
Every default slice has weight 1. That means Mario has the same chance as Sora, and no fighter is quietly favored. The wheel does not decide whether a stage, item rule, or online ruleset is tournament-legal; agree on those rules before you spin. For a different ready-made character decision, see Choose Your Fighter (Ultimate).
Pick the right roster before the first spin
The full list is a good starting point only when everyone has access to it. Open Edit before spinning if your group uses a base-game-only setup, excludes Mii Fighters, has not purchased every DLC fighter, or wants to practise a small set of characters. You can remove options, add a custom label, or paste a pool that matches your house rules.
Pokémon Trainer appears as one choice because the game uses that fighter slot for Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard. Pyra / Mythra is also one choice because their switch is part of the same fighter selection. Keeping each of those as a single slice avoids giving a paired selection extra odds by accident.
Three practical ways to use the wheel
For a quick friendly, spin once and play the result for the next match. For a character challenge, keep the full roster, record the result, and commit to it for a game or best-of-three. For a group draft, turn on elimination mode before anyone spins. The selected fighter is removed after each draw, so later players cannot receive the same character.
If the default selection is too broad, make a second saved version for your group instead of changing weights invisibly between games. For example, create one wheel for newcomers with a short comfort pool and another for experienced players with every fighter. Share the public wheel link only after the group can see the final items and rules.
Keep the random result fair
Equal weights are the simplest rule. Use a different weight only when the group has agreed on a specific handicap, such as making a practiced main less likely. State the reason before spinning, and reset every weight to 1 when the handicap is over. A random result can settle a choice; it cannot replace a fair rules conversation.
A simple setup for a full game night
Decide the format first: one spin per player, one spin per match, or a no-repeat draft for the whole night. For a four-player draft, turn on elimination mode, let players spin in a pre-agreed order, and write down each result before opening character select. If someone cannot use the chosen fighter, make that exception before the first spin or remove that option from the pool. Do not silently reroll after seeing an unfavorable result; agree on a reroll rule up front, such as one reroll per player. This small setup makes the wheel a transparent tiebreaker instead of another reason to argue.
Keep the list visible while everyone confirms it.
The Smash Ultimate Random Picker is deliberately a character-choice tool, not a tier list or matchup guide. Edit the roster, choose whether repeats are allowed, share the finished setup, and let the spin get the next game moving.
