The Bleach Division Rank Wheel assigns a Gotei 13 rank group to an original
Soul Reaper, roleplay profile, writing prompt, drawing challenge, or friendly
anime draft. Spin once, accept the result, and build the character around the
responsibility that comes with that position. The six slices use equal weights,
so the wheel creates a creative constraint rather than pretending to reproduce
the population of Soul Society.

What is on the Bleach Division Rank Wheel?

The hierarchy is grouped into six readable outcomes: Unseated Shinigami, Junior
Seated Officer, Senior Seated Officer, Lieutenant, Captain, and
Captain-Commander. This grouping follows the structure described by the
Bleach Wiki’s Gotei 13 reference:
captains hold the First Seat, lieutenants hold the Second Seat, and other seated
officers occupy the Third through Twentieth Seats.

The broad officer groups keep the wheel practical. A result such as “Senior
Seated Officer” leaves room to choose an exact seat that fits the character,
while “Captain” immediately creates a leadership prompt. If your session needs
every numbered seat, edit the list and replace the two grouped slices with
Third Seat, Fourth Seat, and so on through Twentieth Seat.

Squad Zero is deliberately excluded from the default pool. The
Royal Guard reference describes it
as a separate organization whose five members were recognized for major
contributions to Soul Society. It is not simply a promotion tier inside an
ordinary Gotei 13 division. You can still add “Royal Guard / Squad Zero” for an
alternate-universe game, provided everyone understands that the wheel is then
mixing organizations.

Turn a random rank into a character prompt

After spinning, answer three questions: What duty does this rank imply? What
skill helped the character reach it? What weakness makes the position
difficult? An unseated character might be learning basic field discipline. A
senior seated officer could lead a small unit but struggle with command. A
lieutenant has to support a captain and manage daily operations. A captain
result should produce a leadership style, division specialty, and reason other
members would follow that character.

For a fuller profile, choose the rank first and then use a separate decision for
division, Zanpakutō concept, or personality. Keeping those decisions separate
makes rerolls transparent: a player cannot reject a difficult rank merely
because they dislike a later power result. The existing Bleach Characters
Wheel
is useful
when the task is selecting a canon character instead of creating a role.

Rank should shape the prompt without deciding everything about the character.
A high position does not automatically supply a named ability, personality, or
victory in a matchup. Likewise, an unseated result can still lead to a capable
specialist or an interesting growth story. Record the rank first, then make the
remaining creative choices under the same rules used by everyone else.

Fair rules for groups and repeat sessions

Leave every weight at 1 when all six outcomes should be equally available.
Equal creative odds do not mean the ranks are equally common in canon. If a
campaign should start at lower responsibility, raise the weights for Unseated
Shinigami and the two seated-officer groups before anyone spins. Explain that
house rule to the group so a rare leadership result does not feel secretly
favored.

Use elimination mode only for a draft where different players must receive
different rank groups. Leave it off for independent character creation because
two characters can reasonably share a broad category. Decide before the first
spin whether one reroll is allowed, and apply the same rule to everyone.

This page is an unofficial fan utility and is not affiliated with the creators
or publishers of Bleach. For a broader series choice before selecting a role,
try the Anime Picker. The Bleach Division Rank Wheel works
best when its result is treated as the beginning of a character idea, not as a
claim about a canon character’s official position.
